The BMBF programme "Innovation with Services" aims at funding the systematic development of new services. To this end, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research will provide around € 70 million over the next five years.

Fields of action / areas of funding

Innovation management

Attention is focused on quality, flexibility and innovation capacity of customers and knowledge-oriented service companies. Priority areas of this funding area are methods for creating service innovations, export potential and internationalisation of services.

Innovation in growth fields of the service economy

Priority areas are company-related services and services in the context of demographic changes.

People in service companies

Topics such as the design of specialised services and the employment trend in a modern service economy are to be investigated in this field of action. In this context, it is planned to investigate regional and international innovation approaches regarding job policy in the service sector and to verify whether they can be transferred.

The funding is accompanied by cross-cutting measures from theory and practice for sustainable cooperation and on the topic of service innovations and social discourse to enhance the appreciation of work in the service sector in society.
