Innovation Competence East (INNO-KOM-Ost)

The aim of the funding programme is to sustainably strengthen the innovation power of East German industry through research and development of external non-profit industrial research institutions.

 

Objective

The aim of the funding programme is to sustainably strengthen the innovation power of East German industry through research and development of external non-profit industrial research institutions.

Funding is to

  • improve the prerequisites for a permanent implementation of industrial research and experimental development,
  • sustainably strengthen technological performance and competitiveness,
  • realise product and procedure developments with the aim of implementing them fast in marketable products and procedures,
  • newly create highly qualified jobs or to consolidate existing jobs
  • and compensate for continuing competitive disadvantages, in particular, due to the previous division of Germany.

Applications can be submitted by non-profit external industrial research institutions that are legally independent and which are not part of a university and do not belong to a scientific community with corresponding institutional funding.

 

Funding modules

VF - Projects of preliminary research

Funding is provided for the implementation of preliminary research projects if they deal with results and findings of basic research with a view to industrial and commercial application areas and if they are likely to result in broad application opportunities for SMEs.

MF - Market-oriented R&D projects

Funding is provided for the implementation of market-oriented research and development projects from the detailed conception up to the production stage with the aim of obtaining new or further developed products, procedures or services. Activities regarding the transfer of research results ready for application are also funded.

IZ - Investment grants

Investment grants are additionally funded within the framework of a pilot project announced in the call for proposals of 7 January 2009.

Application procedure and dates

Applications can be submitted at any time. When determining the beginning of a project, it must be considered that three months are required on average to process the application. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology makes a decision at the suggestion of the project management organisation.

Applications for investment grants can be submitted until 30 September 2009.
